Acceptable use policy

What you may not use Modellane for, how we handle reports of misuse, and what happens to accounts that break these rules.

About this policy

This policy lists the uses that are not allowed on Modellane, whatever the model, the prompt or the integration. It is part of the terms of service and applies to you and to anyone who uses the service through your account, your API keys or your product.

Some models on Modellane are tuned to refuse fewer requests. That changes how a model responds, not what you are allowed to do: a model answering a request never makes a prohibited use acceptable.

Child safety

You may not use Modellane to create, request or distribute sexual content involving minors, including fictional, drawn or role-play content that depicts or describes a minor. We have zero tolerance for this: we close the account and report it to the appropriate authorities.

Real people and intimate content

You may not use Modellane to create or distribute intimate or sexual content about a real, identifiable person without their consent, including fabricated or altered content, or to harass, threaten or bully real people.

Weapons, violence and extremism

You may not use Modellane to develop, acquire or use weapons capable of mass casualties, including biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons, or to plan or incite violence against people.

You may not use Modellane to support violent extremist or terrorist organisations or activity, including by producing their propaganda or recruiting for them.

Security and surveillance

You may not use Modellane to create or deploy malware, or to attack, gain access to or disrupt systems, networks or accounts you are not authorised to test.

You may not use Modellane for illegal surveillance, stalking or tracking of people, or to collect and publish someone's personal information to expose or harm them.

Fraud, deception and other people's rights

You may not use Modellane for fraud, scams or phishing, or to impersonate real people or organisations in order to deceive others.

You may not use Modellane to manipulate elections or other democratic processes, including through coordinated disinformation or by misleading people about how, when or whether to vote.

You may not use Modellane to infringe intellectual property, privacy or other rights of others, or for any activity that is illegal where you or the affected people are.

Use of the service itself

You may not get around rate limits, concurrency limits or other restrictions, including by spreading traffic across several accounts, and you may not overload the service or access other people's accounts.

You may not share your API keys with third parties or resell access to the service without our written permission.

You may not try to identify, probe or reverse-engineer the infrastructure providers or underlying models behind Modellane model names.

Reports and enforcement

To report misuse, write to info@usemodellane.com. We do not store request content, so a useful report describes what happened, when it happened and, where you know it, which model or API key prefix was involved.

Because we keep no request content, we enforce this policy using request records and account information, reports we receive and legal process. Depending on the case, we may warn you, revoke API keys, suspend your account or close it. Any remaining balance on an account closed for misuse is not refunded.

We cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires it, and we may disclose the account information and request records we hold in response to valid legal process.
